Event Description
This workshop is part of the Behavioral Health CCSS, CSW, CHW Training series funded by the NM Behavioral Health Services Division. This series includes 9 sessions that can be attended as individual sessions, however, for maximum benefit participation in the entire series is encouraged.
A ll workshops are free for New Mexico Behavioral Health Professionals.
The Art of Clinical Communication in Behavioral Health
In this session, participants will practice communication skills to navigate behavioral health settings and ethical considerations of clinical communication.
Please note: Spanish interpretation will be provided for every session. If you require an ASL or Spanish interpreter please indicate when registering.
Learning Objectives:
Define the role of clinical communication within the CSW, CHW/R, and CPSW scope of practice
Identify strategies for navigating clinical communication
Practice the art of clinical “code-switching” Comment end
Audience:
Community Support Workers, Community Health Workers, and all other certified specialists
All experience levels welcome
CEUs: 2.0 Hours Approved by the New Mexico Counseling and Therapy Practice Board. Provider License No. CTB-2022-0245. Expires 09/30/2025. Workshops in this series are facilitated by Amanda Browne, LCSW, MPH: Founder and Consultant of Who is Amanda Jane?
Amanda Browne is a bilingual (Spanish and English) licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) and earned a Masters of Public Health in 2018 from Columbia University. She has worked in community behavioral health since 2013, including as a Multi-systemic Therapy (MST) Therapist, clinician for youth and families, and a CCSS trainer for behavioral health providers in New Mexico. Prior to her clinical work, Amanda worked internationally on research and programming for community violence prevention interventions in Honduras, Mexico, Colombia, and Cameroon. She is known for her collaborative approach and inclusive engagement with diverse stakeholders, from the grassroots to government leadership.
